The Project

Me, trying to decipher the menu in the restaurant wagon in a train in ChinaThe Ubiquitous Traveler; that’s me, David Vilder, 24, an undergraduate political science student at Concordia University in Montreal, QC, Canada. This blog is now my new travel blog and 2009-2010 will hopefully give me plenty of opportunity to write. Indeed if you read my Itinerary you might see that I will be going to a lot of places this year, partly thanks to the Concordia International student exchange program program.

But this isn’t all about travelling for the mere sake of travelling (although in some aspects it is). 2009-2010 will be my 3rd year in my bachelor at the fabulous Concordia, so it coincides perfectly for me to go away and think a bit. Thinking is not an easy sport, as many of you know; so a bit of distance will hopefully help.

I can for example find what I will write about in my Loyola International College thesis, spring 2011. I can also figure out what I want to do after graduation. Development, journalism, photography, hippie, ambassador, professional traveller? The door is open to all windows, as we say.
So at least this blog will allow my friends and others – and the whole world! – to follow me everywhere, even though I won’t necessarily know where am I.

But this travel blog has also a nobler ambition. I hope it will provide a window through which I can bring light on some issue of our contemporary world that no one hear about. And if there are no issues then it is for the broader goal of spreading awareness of the many cool places that exist around the world; because there is so much cool stuff to see!
